HANNOVER S3 meets the requirements of EN ISO 20345:2011, which specifies the protective properties of safety footwear. Protective toe caps must withstand an impact energy of 200 J and a compression force of 15 kN. This model features a composite safety toe cap.

The S3 category includes toe protection, an enclosed heel, antistatic properties and heel energy absorption. It also requires upper resistance to water penetration and absorption, penetration protection and a cleated outsole.

A Kevlar midsole provides penetration protection. This non-metallic component reduces the risk of injury from sharp objects on the ground. The 2011 standard uses different penetration-protection markings from the newer EN ISO 20345:2022 standard.

The SRC marking confirms that the footwear has passed both SRA and SRB slip-resistance tests. These involve ceramic tiles with a detergent solution and a steel surface with glycerol. SRC cannot be directly equated with the SR marking under the newer standard.
