What are work trousers and why should they be worn?
Work trousers provide protection and comfort when performing work tasks, especially in dark, difficult or potentially dangerous conditions.
They are available in different colors, fabrics, sizes and styles to offer you the right solution for different environments and types of work. However, personal preferences can also be taken into account, as they are available with different trouser lengths and waist circumferences, for the best combination of practicality and comfort.
Some are designed solely for security reasons, while others provide a range of features that keep users comfortable and productive throughout the work day. These features include knee pads and pockets for tools and other necessary equipment. In general, work trousers are usually made of durable and resistant materials that are designed to withstand daily use.
Some types, such as high-visibility trousers and flame-retardant trousers, are classified as personal protective equipment (PPE). Such trousers protect the wearer from injury when working in dangerous or risky environments.
Work trousers materials
Work trousers are made of different materials, depending on the specific use and hazards they are supposed to protect the wearer from. Work trousers have a material weight between 190 and 290 g/m2. Some, which protect the user from injuries when working in dangerous or risky environments, can have a material weight of up to 495 g/m2.
1.) Cotton
Conventional and most affordable work clothes are made of cotton. Cotton work clothes are comfortable, but they wick away moisture less well and are less durable. Our offer includes the Greenland collection made of cotton, which is available in four colors. You can choose between classic work trousers and work Bib & Brace, also called farmer pants.
2.) Cotton and polyester
A durable blend of polyester and cotton is among the most popular materials for work trousers. It is usually chosen to protect against scratches and damage by sharp objects. The use of materials such as polyester and cotton ensures that the pants are comfortable and breathable while also being very durable. Therefore, they are ideal for those who work in demanding environments, while at the same time promoting safety and security. In our offer, the North Tech, Atlantic, City II, Classic Smart and Spektar collections are made from a mixture of cotton and polyester. There are work trousers, work Bib & Brace, work shorts and work vests in several color combinations.
3.) Cotton, polyester and elastane
More modern workwear collections have elastane added to the cotton and polyester mix. Polyester and cotton ensure comfort, breathability and durability of the pants, while elastane ensures greater flexibility. Elastic work clothes have a narrower, ergonomic cut, as they are more flexible and, despite the narrower cut, ensure a smooth work process. In our offer, the Pacific Flex and Bergrn Flex collections are made from a mixture of cotton, polyester and elastane, which already reveal in their name that they are elastic work trousers. Work trousers and work Bib & Brace are available in several color combinations.
Hi-vis trousers and workwear are usually made of polyester or cotton with micro-prismatic reflective strips. These reflective strips provide additional visibility and comply with PPE regulations for work in some industries and environments. However, synthetic materials such as rayon, nylon, acetate and polyester can melt if exposed to fire or extremely high temperatures. This means that they are not suitable for non-flammable clothing. Instead, materials such as Kevlar are preferred for flame retardant clothing, as its strong fibers and heat resistance make it an excellent choice for this type of application.
